Talk about Adjustments

So as you know, we finished packing the U-haul, all 26 feet of it! Without my sister, I couldn't of done it. I was starting to lose it, and she not only kept my emotions at bay, but got the truck loaded, organized and "secure." As we started saying our good-byes to those around us, I became frantic about the drive, move, and our life to be soon in a very unfamiliar place. Least to say I fell apart in my poor husbands arms, and we got delayed in leaving. Once again, my family and husband picked me up, and we finally did get on the road, only a day late.
The Drive Here... Well, we thought it would be around 24 hours. No, let's try 32. The dog just about had a heart attack from all the slobber loss and pacing back and forth; and the poor cat traveled amazing, but by the end was meowing with his paws on the door peering out the window. All in all, we made it safe and without problems. Thanks to the help of my mom, who drove down with us, we were able to get our duplex set up in two days. We even have pictures on the walls!! It is much nicer to come into a place that is now a home, not just another house. It is a two bedroom, one bath house. We have a big living room that connects to our dining area. We are using our second room as an office and study space. Our washer and dryer are in a closet offset of the maze..our bathroom. We call it a maze because we had an extra door that made it awkward to enter and exit. There are now two, but were three doors for the bathroom within a half foot of eachother. Our room has a huge walk-in closet and is pretty good size it's self. Especially with our stuff in, we really enjoy our little home.
The two things that I thought would be hard to do here are split. The heat, well humidity, and the bugs. The humidity actually isn't bad. It is not as bad as I was expecting, and I'll take that!! Oh but the bugs are so bad!!! I am dying! Within 20 minutes and two day outside in broad daylight, I have 13 mosquito and 3 fire ant bites. We have sprayed the inside of our home and it seems to really work, but just forget going outside especially from dusk on. Some of bugs I have seen outside I really think are from Mars. I am starting to wonder how anyone with some sense of cleanliness and hate of bugs could ever live here full-time by choice. I am coming to realize that just because the bugs come in my house that doesn't mean we are dirty people, which is so hard for me!! The other thing that I knew would be hard, but you can't really describe until you go through it yourself, is how I miss "home." Even though I have only had one break- down on him, I never expected how would feel here. It isn't all bad, just a huge sense of unsurity, adventure, stress, excitment, and all the inbetween. It is really the Hardest thing I have ever done! Everything makes me miss Utah, but I am embracing our future and looking toward it!! Well, so this doesn't take you hours to read I will quit and save some news for next time. We are doing well and settling in, and trying to life by my favorite quote, "Life is an occasion, Rise to it."

Starting to Pack!!

I decided I wanted to start a blog when trying to figuring out ways to stay in touch with all those we are leaving behind. This way you can follow some of what we are doing on a pretty regular basis, and it's my hope that you'll enjoy reading our posts, and still feel connected.

Our journey to onward is beginning, The leaving date approaching, the U-haul scheduled and boxes starting to fill. I have loved this little duplex and will always remember our first home together. As sad as it has become to leave, other emotions are starting to hit! Some excitement, stress, worry, and sense of adventure all in one. But as we depart Utah, looking like forever, we are excited to start Marques on a better, happier career path! Well, I have little time and so much to do, Back to boxes...
